If you are a parent of an child who is involved in a sport of any kind, then you certainly are proud that he/she is involved in the wonderful world of organized sports. Being a part of a team is not only fun and exciting, but it is a great character-building experience that will teach your child many valuable lessons about life.

Are you aware of the fact that you can build sports websites for your child's team? It is true and something that you may wish to consider. At League Athletics, you can very easily build a terrific, user-friendly site that is customized for your purposes and which can be updated by you and anyone else you choose. This type of website is ideal to use for communicating information to team members and their families. You can use it to post schedules, coordinate events and announce practice times and other pertinent information that keeps your program running smoothly. Not only are these websites great looking and easy to use, but they also are a great way to market your team.

Many coaches use this type of website that is powered by sport league software for offering online sports registration, tournament management, photo galleries, and the management of officials. The software used simplifies the management of amateur sports organizations so that you can concentrate on the game itself and not all of the details of the program you are involved in. LeagueAthletics offers you a very comprehensive site that will improve communications within the team itself as well as with the entire organization or club. With great tools like unlimited email blasts, automatic game and practice reminders and schedule change notifications, your program will run much more smoothly and efficiently.

There are no hidden fees when you buy one of the sports websites from LeagueAthletics. In fact, the only fee you pay is the cost of the annual web hosting. There is no 'per transaction' or 'convenience fee' charged for the online registration service. The only time you would be charged an additional fee would be if you were to choose opening a Merchant Account wherein you accept electronic payments. You are even allowed to sell sponsorship space on your website and keep all of the profits you earn. LeagueAthletics also promises never to place a third party ad on your site, so your site will not become cluttered with spam ads. The site is yours to customize as you wish and is designed to make easy work of running/coaching a sports team.

If the idea of owning one or many sports websites appeals to you, then head on over to LeagueAthletics and take a look around the website.
Quick Ideas On Getting Started With A Street Basketball Game

With professional, and college basketball enjoying record levels of popularity, it's not surprising that the street basketball game has taken off as well. If you're a fan of basketball then getting a few friends together down at the local basketball hoop, is a great way to enjoy some friendly competition, and some exercise in at the same time.

There's usually nothing special that needs to be planned around a simple street game, but there are some ways of keeping it somewhat organized, and legit. This way it doesn't turn into just kind of a free-for-all.

Here are some ideas to think about before your next game. Does the area have an organized basketball program? Are there some basic rules that can be adhered to, how to decide a winner?

Is There a Local Basketball Program?

Many cities have adopted organized basketball programs, and they have midnight basketball opportunities available. These were originally set as a way for young kids to get off the street, and find something positive to do, preventing them from getting involved in possible criminal activities. The program has become wildly popular; it has even evolved into small weekend tournaments, and organized foundations. Groups like Hoop-it-Up, Rockets, and others have gained national exposure. Media outlets such as ESPN have even highlighted events which travel around the country promoting basketball.

Are there Rules to the Street Basketball Game?

The short answer is there really are no specific rules. However, with that being said, the basic idea of street ball is a more in the paint type game and, focuses on getting to the basket. Typically, it's a place where you can show off your best moves. A lot of times fake outs, and crossovers are used to get to the hoop, and hit the slam, or go for the ally-oop with another player. Usually calling the foul is about the only rule that most go with. Most of the time fouls are not called because there is not hired referee, unless is absolutely obvious.

How to Decide The Winner and End the Game?

There are many ways to come to a conclusion with a street pick up game, but most of the time players agree to play to 21 with each bucket counting as only one point. If a particular shot is deemed more than one point then that is usually agreed to before the game. Winning by two or more points is how games are won. There is the unwritten skunk rule however. This just means that a team that reaches a certain point like seven baskets, automatically wins because the other person, or team isn't scoring.

A street basketball game is a great way to spend time with friends or family, and meet new people. It just takes finding a nearby hoop, getting a b-ball, some buddies together, and start making some shots.

Kevin Foley writes content about basketball pictures , basketball moves and basketball videos .

Anyone who plays streetball knows it's all about your signature basketball moves. Of course, winning is also important, but establishing a reputation at your home court is a lot of fun. You want to be the guy no one wants to guard, the one that gives opponents fits. There are a few moves that can help you get there. And these moves aren't based on what type of player you are. When it comes to streetball, you need to be able to play every role. Guards need to know how to post-up and centers need to know how to drain a three. That's just the way it is on the streets. If you can't handle it, sorry. Don't play.

Okay, let's cover some basic moves first. One is the up and under. This is a post-up move. Establish position deep on the right side. Once you have the ball, head fake toward the paint, which will send your defender soaring to block a shot. Keep the ball and come back around the outside for an easy lay-up. For the next move, let's stay in that same post-up position. Once you receive the ball, turn your head toward the basket from the outside, establish depth and range, and shoot a sky mini-hook. This move is a lot of fun because no matter how short or tall you are, once you master it, no one can block it. People watch in awe. It's also very frustrating for defenders. Just be sure to pass out of the post once in a while to keep defenders honest. A third move from the post is the wraparound reverse. Back up into your defender and give a little bump to put him off balance. Then, use your free hand to gently wrap around his body. Using this momentum, dribble under the basket and complete a reverse lay-up.

If you're around the foul line, there are a lot of great moves to learn. One of the best is the shoot-pause-dribble. In other words, make it look as though you're about to shoot by bringing the ball up with your palm turned sideways. Pause like you're about to shoot. Then, continue dribbling and drive by your defender with ease. There is a fine line here between a legal move and a carry, so it requires much practice. But once you get it, it's nasty. Another great move at the foul line is a hard single dribble in and pullback jump shot. If you do this right, your defender will be way off balance.

These are just a few basketball moves that can take your streetball reputation and legacy to the next level. Just be sure to pass out of the post once in a while to keep defenders honest. A third move from the post is the wraparound reverse. Back up into your defender and give a little bump to put him off balance.

Soniya Gurg writes content about Freestyle Street Basketball, Street basketball,For more information visit at: http://www.streetball.com/

History of the Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics were formed in 1946 as part of the Basketball Association of America. They began play in the NBA in 1949 when the two leagues merged. The following year, the Celtics became the first professional franchise to sign a black player when they drafted Chuck Cooper.

The seeds for the Celtics dynasty were formed when Red Auerbach was hired to coach the team in 1956. Point guard Bob Cousy was acquired by Boston when the team he was playing on went bankrupt. Auerbach was then able to make some trades and negotiations that ended with his team getting center Bill Russell forward Tommy Heinsohn.

With three future hall-of-famers, Boston went on a period of success that goes down as one of the most successful in sports. They won their first championship in 1957 and returned to the championship series in 1958 only to lose to the St. Louis Hawks.

In 1959, the Celtics reclaimed the championship. They defended the title year after year, refusing to relinquish it until 1967. The eight straight titles Boston won from 1959 to 1966 is an NBA record that hasn't been approached and is the longest consecutive championship winning streak of any North American professional sports team.

After the 1966 championship, Auerbach retired as coach and Russell was named player-coach. He became the first black coach in the NBA. Although his first season as player coach coincided with the Celtics first non-championship in eight years, he went on to be a very successful player coach, winning the championship in the 1968 and 1969 seasons.

The Celtics had moderate success in the 70s when compared to their historic run in the late 50s and 60s. They were able to play in the championship series twice, in 1974 and 1976, winning each time. They were led by future hall-of-famers John Havlicek and Dave Cowens.

Larry Bird of Indiana State joined the Celtics for the 1979-80 season. He had been drafted two years earlier but opted to stay in college through his senior year. The sharp-shooting forward turned out to be the key ingredient for another successful stretch in the 80s. He teamed with forward Kevin McHale and center Robert Parrish to form the best frontline in the NBA. "The Big Three," as they came to be known, led Boston to three championships (1981, 1984, and 1986).

Magic Johnson joined the Los Angeles Lakers the same year Bird joined the Celtics. The two famously met in the 1979 NCAA Championship Game in which Johnson's Michigan State Spartans narrowly defeated Bird's Indiana State Sycamores. The two reestablished a rivalry between the Celtics and the Lakers, who had met several times in the Finals during Boston's heyday.

The 90s were the worst decade for Boston. Len Bias, as the second overall pick of the 1986 Draft, was supposed to be Boston's star of the future. However, he died shortly after being drafted of a cocaine overdose. Tragedy struck again for Boston in 1993 when forward Reggie Lewis died. With The Big Three aging, Boston fell from its spot at the top of the Eastern Conference, and eventually struggled to make the playoffs. From 1996 to 2007, they made the playoffs just four times.

The Celtics have had resurgence over the past three years, however. After acquiring former league MVP Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, the Celtics became the team to beat during the 2007-2008 season. The two of them combined with veteran Celtic Paul Pierce to form the second rendition of "The Big Three." Pierce, Garnett, and Allen led Boston to their first championship in 22 years in 2008.

Boston continued to be one of the top teams in the NBA in 2009. However, after an injury to Garnett, they lost in the second round to the Orlando Magic.

Currently, the Celtics are playing in the Eastern Conference Championship against the Orlando Magic. After a lackluster second half of the season, Boston appears to have found their stroke after upsetting the number one seed Cleveland Cavaliers.

Bryan Reynolds writes reviews on various sporting events including the online sportsbook.

Florida has a wide variety of professional sports teams within the state. When it comes to basketball, they have actually produced two teams that are a part of the National Basketball Association but the first to enter the league was the Miami Heat. The Miami Heat are a professional men's basketball team that play in the Southeast Division of the NBA. They are in the Eastern Conference and they are based out of Miami, Florida. The team's head coach, Erik Spoelstra, is rather young but has proven he can lead his team against the best of them. They are owned by Micky Arison and they play all of their home games at the American Airlines Arena. The team is managed by Pat Riley, who actually coached in Miami in years past.

The Miami Heat were first formed in 1988 as an expansion team into the NBA. Their franchise records include making the playoffs 13 out of 21 seasons, winning seven division titles in the Southeast Division, and winning one NBA Finals in 2006.

The Heat would start off with a young roster that included the likes of Ron Seikaly, Pat Cummings, and Scott Hastings. The next year they would acquire Glen Rice in the draft and would struggle until they finally had a winning season in 1993. That year they would go 42-40 and make it to the playoffs for the first time. Other notable players that would play for the Miami Heat over the next few years would include Alonzo Mourning as well as Tim Hardaway.

In the 2000's the Heat started to make some significant changes. In the 2003 draft they picked Dwayne Wade as the fifth pick overall and it seems to have been one of their best draft picks ever. Wade has been an All-Star since 2004 and has proven that he is one of the most dominant figures in all of basketball. He ranks among the top five players in the league with Kobe Bryant and Lebron James. In 2004 he was given a few key players to help him build his team when the heat acquired Shaquille O'Neal from the Los Angeles Lakers.

In 2005, behind Shaq and Wade, the Miami Heat improved their season record to 59-23 and achieved the second best season record in franchise history. That year they would go far into the post season before being ousted in the Eastern Conference Finals. The very next year, in 2006, the Heat would come back with a vengeance and would end up winning the NBA finals against the Dallas Mavericks. This would be the very first championship in franchise history. The years following this rise to the top would show a steady decline for the team. Shaquille O'Neal would be traded away and Dwayne Wade would be plagued with injuries down the stretch.

In the most recent season, 2010, Dwayne Wade would take his team to the first round of the playoffs with the help of Michael Beasley and Jermaine O'Neal but it would prove to be too little as they were beaten in 5 games by the Boston Celtics.

Hailey Brooks writes reviews on various sporting events including the various NBA betting odds available throughout various online sportsbooks . The Dallas Mavericks have been around since 1980 and are a professional basketball team that plays in the National Basketball Association. They play in the Southwest Division of the Western Conference of the league and are based out of Dallas, TX. The Mavericks have consistently been a great team in the league with a few exceptions. They have won a conference championship in 2006 and have also won three individual division titles in 1987, 2007, and most recently in 2010. They have had some incredible players over the years including Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki, and Jason Kidd but have still yet to capture a Championship. The Mavs have one of the most valuable franchises in the league at about $466 million. This puts them as having the seventh most valuable franchise among NBA teams.

The Mavericks were first created in 1980 and had a rough time putting together a team. In the 1981 draft they were able to pick up Jay Vincent, Mark Aguirre, and Rolando Blackman to help back their lone superstar, Brad Davis, and make something of the team. In 1982 they had their first winning season but were still not able to reach the playoffs. In 1983 they picked up Derek Harper in the draft and made their first appearance in the post season.

Around 1986 the Mavericks were finally starting to get into their groove. They got a Midwest Division Title that year but they went out early in the playoffs after suffering a defeat to the Seattle Supersonics. The team would visit the playoffs over the next few years but still struggled to get too far into the post season. By 1990 they would lose one of their valuable players in Sam Perkins and would fall to the bottom of the standings with only 28 wins on the season.

In 1994 the Mavericks picked up Jason Kidd in the draft, and he had a supporting cast of Jim Jackson and Jamal Mashburn. They were a formidable scoring force in the league and Jason Kidd even led the league that year with triple doubles. Even with these weapons, however, the team still was not able to reach the playoffs so they went through another rebuilding stage where they got rid of Jason Kidd and got Michael Finley, Sam Cassell, and A.C. Green. This didn't prove to do too much until in 1998 they secured the rights to Dirk Nowitzki and Steve Nash and would start a dominant run. They would also change management when Mark Cuban bought the franchise from its original owners.

This lineup would prove to be a good one as the Dallas Mavericks would reach the NBA Finals in 2004-2005 but ended up losing to the Miami Heat in six games. Since then they have traded out Nash and acquired Jason Kidd again and have built a solid team. Going into the 2010 playoffs they were the second ranked team in the Western Conference. They have showed their dominance over other teams in the league and look to be a real force in the post season. Dirk Nowitzki is nearly unstoppable from anywhere on the floor and Jason Kidd is playing as well as he did when he entered the league sixteen years ago.

Hayden Tucker writes reviews on various sporting events including the various online sportsbook.
